Justice Leadership Program
Welcome
“And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I; send me’” Isaiah 6:8
For many of us, the world is not as we would have it. There is a great and growing division between the haves and the have-nots. There is racism and other forms of harmful discrimination. There is the growing impact of climate change. There are increasing levels of violence; and for many, there is growing despondency.
It comes as a surprise to many, that Christianity and the Judaism that informs it, calls on its people to stand up for compassion and in opposition to injustice. Faith forms the foundation for action. That is the belief that formed the Justice Leadership Program.
In 2012 we began a residential internship program for young adults. They served in agencies working for social, economic, and environmental justice. They served in local congregations linking the work for justice in the community to the life of faith of the congregations. They took classes to learn more about faith and justice. They lived simply in community with one another.
As we promoted the young adult program, older adults asked us whether we could create a similar program to meet their needs. To meet those requests, the Jubilee program was created. The Covid pandemic opened our eyes to the ability to create community among scattered people and so we are now offering the Jubilee program on-line.
The goal of the Justice Leadership Program is to inspire, empower and inform those who have a passion for justice and a desire to get involved in the most important work in the world. Who will join the work of transforming the world? If you feel the call, we can show you how.
